OC 2050 Letter to Supporters, 6/13/2026
Dear Friends & Supporters,
A quick update and a thank you.
The Boardwalk Subcommittee meeting this past Friday went well. Here are links to the report and video of the meeting.
In summary, the report recognized that the Boardwalk’s primary purpose is entertainment, identified a need for more family-friendly attractions, emphasized the value of Ocean City’s unique character, effectively rejected the proposed high-rise hotel concept at 600 Boardwalk while offering a path to a more modest resort, and recommended a thoughtful, fact-based planning process to guide future zoning decisions.
….While all that is good, we are not out of the woods yet. Please keep an eye out for a possible rehabilitation vote at the next City Council meeting. Given the positive and forward-looking nature of the Subcommittee’s report, such a move would be both distracting and out of step with the process the Subcommittee recommended. Nevertheless, we remain concerned that some members of Council may attempt to pursue it.
